What is Multi-factor authentication (MFA)?
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two verification factors to gain access to your Compass Mining account. Rather than just asking for a username and password, MFA requires one or more additional verification factors, which decreases the likelihood of a successful cyber attack.
Why is Multi-factor authentication (MFA) required?
To improve security we have enabled MFA by default for our customers.
How do I set up Multi-factor authentication?
When accessing the new website you will be required to reset your password. After you have reset your password you will be prompted to set up Multi-factor authentication (MFA) using an authentication app. If you don't already have an authentication app you can download one on your phone or within your browser. Below are some authentication apps to get you started:
- Google Authenticator
- Authy
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Last Pass
Once installed you will be prompted to scan a QR code from the Compass Mining website. This will generate a rotating code that you can enter on login. Enabling MFA requires you to know the username and password while also having access to a physical device you own.
