Compass Mining is migrating its user authentication to a new platform. This article answers common questions about the impact and changes to users.
What is changing?
Compass Mining is migrating to a user authentication provider to improve security. Your account will remain unchanged, but you'll need to reset your password and multi-factor authentication (MFA) when you login the first time after the migration.
Why are we making this change?
We're always looking for ways to better protect your account and the assets connected to it. Our new provider is an industry-standard authentication platform that provides stronger security controls, a more reliable login infrastructure, and a foundation for rolling out improved sign-in features over time.
I'm having trouble logging in. What should I do?
Try resetting your password first. If you're still having trouble, contact support at support@compassmining.io, and we will assist you.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Click "Sign In" in the top navigation, then select "Forgot password." You can also reset it directly here.
How do I set up my MFA?
First, ensure you have an authenticator app installed on your phone (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or a similar app).
Once your app is ready, proceed through the password reset flow until you reach the MFA setup screen. Open your authenticator app and use it to scan the QR code displayed on the screen.
If your app does not support QR scanning, click "Unable to Scan" instead. This will display a text code you can enter manually into your authenticator app.
After completing either step above, your authenticator app will begin generating a six-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds. Enter the current code into the field on screen and click Submit. Your account is now set up, and you'll use this code each time you log in.
Can I continue using my YubiKey as my MFA?
At this time, we are no longer supporting YubiKey for multi-factor authentication (MFA). You are free to use other available MFA options.
