All miners that we host come with stock firmware from the manufacturer. Installing 3rd party firmware can greatly impact a miner's performance and adds additional complexities to our company and facilities. Running stock firmware guarantees that machines are running as intended and that the warranty is not compromised.
At this time we do not allow custom/3rd party firmware for our hosting customers. We would like to but are unable to support this for a few reasons at this time:
Added Complexity and Support - Custom/3rd party firmware adds extra complexity and head count to our team which we cannot support right now. These firmwares often are difficult to set up and hard to get in a stable state. Normally when they are in a stable state custom/3rd party firmware runs great but sometimes there are complications.
Warranty - Running stock firmware guarantees that machines are running as intended and that the warranty is not compromised.
Power Contracts - Most of our energy contracts are take or pay which means we are charged for the rated power consumption on the sticker whether the miners are plugged in or not. Power output changes when running custom/3rd party firmware even if you do not wish to underclock or overclock your machine(s) which would cause issues in how we are billed by the energy provider and ultimately bill our customers.
This is something we are working to overcome so that we can bring more options to our customers. Customers who are mining at home are welcome to consider running custom/3rd party firmware on their machines at their own risk. Modifying stock firmware often void's warranty therefore we recommend you check with your manufacturer's policies before making your decision.
